The Tour de Midlands Century Ride provides a race-worthy bicycle ride for bicycle enthusiasts of all abilities. This ride will create awareness and provide community support, and funding for the Lexington Greenways Alliance, a program of Community Open Land Trust.  The Alliance seeks to create greenway corridors and trails throughout Lexington County, encouraging healthier lifestyles; providing transportation options to surrounding destinations and offering opportunities for environmental conservation and education.  The ride itself promotes continuous physical activity and a healthy lifestyle through education and opportunity.

VISION

The Tour de Midlands (TdM) Century Ride is a 102 –72 – 30 - 15 mile cycling ride in the Midlands of South Carolina. It includes terrain that will challenge those riders looking for competition while at the same time provide a fun, safe experience for those looking for something less than a competitive race in a beautiful setting, with great participant satisfaction.  Events such as Tour de Midlands help broaden community cooperation and participation in healthy events throughout the year. The Tour de Midlands will serve as a model of health motivation for other communities throughout South Carolina.

OBJECTIVES

• Provide support and funding for the development of Lexington Greenway Trails.
• Increase awareness and support of the Lexington Greenways Alliance (LGA).
• Increase interest in cardiovascular exercise in the community.
• Generate a spirit of community involvement and volunteerism.
